We have, the lesson says, been operating with our own plan for salvation. The mind that thinks itself separate has been trying to solve its own dilemma, in its own terms, for as long as it has existed. The plan has not worked. It cannot work, the Course says, because it is built on the foundational mistake — the belief in separation itself.

God's plan, the lesson says, is the only one that will work. God's plan, in the Course's terms, is the inner Teacher's plan — the slow, gentle work of forgiveness that releases the mind from the dream rather than trying to make the dream more bearable.

This lesson is, for many of us, the one that produces the first real surrender. The recognition that the mind's own plan has been the obstacle, and that something else is available.

For today. Apply the idea. Notice the small relief that accompanies setting down a plan that has not been working.
